In SharePoint you can make views within the same site. Yet, users come up fast with additional requirements.  

Views only really become interesting and useful when they centralize information over different SharePoint sites. 
Therefore Ometa developed the Rollup Web Part, which offers all of these functionalities. 

Using the Ometa Rollup Web Part will make it possible to:   

  • View documents of other sites within your site  

  • Centralize project tasks of several sites in one overview 

  • View contacts of different departments/organizations (with their own cooperation sites) in one overview 

  • Make dashboards with summarized information from different sites

The collected information can be viewed in the Ometa Rollup Web Part. 

When information is updated via this Web Part, the updates will take place in the different sites. This prevents data redundancy and problems with synchronization or data integrity. 

The most defiant implementation of the Rollup Web Part so far was with one of Europe’s largest SharePoint users. The rollup had to be done over 166 SharePoint sites with 60 000 tasks and several hundreds of thousands of documents. The performance is going like a bomb, there are no time-outs and the end users are extremely pleased.
